Facebook-to-Facebook video calling now available within Skype

The bond between Facebook and Skype seems to have grown stronger. It was Skype that brought video calling to Facebook, back in July and now the two have now fortified their partnership with an another addition. Skype recently launched Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows. With this update, the VoIP giant allows one to have a Facebook-to-Facebook call within Skype, itself. Skype claims that this new development in the Skype-Facebook partnership is the latest example of how Skype is removing communication barriers and making it easier to connect with friends, family and colleagues.

Rick Osterloh, Vice President of Product at Skype, said in a blog post, “Our approach to social is about personal connections with people. We are on a mission to connect over one billion people and our continued partnership with Facebook brings us one step closer to this goal.”  Activating this new feature is pretty simple and all one has to do is connect their Skype and Facebook accounts > Select a Facebook friend one wishes to chat with, and > hit the video call button. One can also view status updates or instant message them from with Skype.

Apart from the afore mentioned features, the Skype 5.4 Beta for Mac and Skype 5.7 Beta for Windows includes new features such as video rendering, which gives a smoother video experience for Mac users and group screen sharing for Windows users with a Premium subscription. However, group screen sharing is available only for Mac users and the post goes on to say that those users chatting one-on-one would also be able to screen share with live video streaming.
