Origin compulsory for Mass Effect 3 PC

When Battlefield 3 launched, PC gamers over the world groaned as they were forced to use EA’s Origin service that was a far cry from Steam. I personally faced quite a few issues with Origin, one of which required me to re-download the entire game. And now it looks like EA are sticking to their guns as all future EA PC titles will be tied into this service, including BioWare’s upcoming action/RPG, Mass Effect 3.

Over at the game’s official forums, BioWare's Chris Priestly stated that players looking at playing the single player only will still have to authenticate the game through Origin, even if they buy the physical DVD at retail. Of course, if you plan on playing online, you’ll be required to connect to Origin at all times just like you did for Battlefield 3.

We suggest you make your peace with Origin ASAP, if you do plan on playing future EA games on your PC, as EA aren’t too happy with Steam’s “restrictive terms of service”.  Mass Effect 3 releases for the Xbox360m, PS3 and PC by the 6th of March, 2012. Thanks to Gameinformer for the heads up.
